With the rapidly falling prices of computers and software, it doesn't take a very high imputed wage to convince most serious traders that a computer purchase will pay itself off in a matter of a few months (if not weeks). Once you've become accustomed to using a computer for your charts, going back to doing things by hand seems impossible. Assuming that you've purchased a computer for which technical analysis and charting software is available (primarily the IBM PC or Apple II series), there is the question of which software package(s) to use. I have bought and used a number of these, and I have learned several lessons which have been costly both in money and time.
